Dan Spencer returned to Oregon State as a special assistant to the baseball and softball coaching staffs in September 2026.

Spencer, who helped lead Oregon State to national championships in 2006 and 2007, assists both coaching staffs on a day-to-day basis. He most recently spent six seasons as head coach at Linfield. He also served as the head coach at Texas Tech from 2009-12 and Green River Community College from 1992-96.

Spencer previously spent 11 seasons with the Oregon State baseball program, first as an assistant coach from 1997-2003 and then as associate head coach from 2004-07. He guided the Oregon State pitching staff during his time, which included national titles in 2006 and 2007. OSU's pitching staff led the then-Pac-10 in earned run average in 2005 and 2006. He was named Collegiate Baseball's National Pitching Coach of the Year in 2007.

Spencer's time at Oregon State, Texas Tech and New Mexico — where he served as an assistant from 2013-15 — helped produce players who earned 26 All-American awards. He also served as an assistant coach at Washington State from 2016-19 before taking over at Linfield in 2020.
