Ron McKeefery

Ron McKeefery is in his first season at Oregon State in 2026 as chief of staff. He brought more than 25 years of experience at the collegiate and professional levels to Corvallis.
McKeefery spent the previous two seasons as special assistant to the head coach at Alabama, working closely with Kalen DeBoer to implement program initiatives and shape culture. He joined the Crimson Tide from Washington, where he served as the Huskies' strength and conditioning coach from 2022-24 and played an integral role in the program's run to the 2023 College Football Playoff. His other collegiate stops included USF, Tennessee, Fresno State and Eastern Michigan.
At the professional level, McKeefery held strength and conditioning roles with the Kansas City Royals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals. He also collaborated with the United States Special Forces, Team USA Football and the Chinese Olympic Committee.
Over the course of his career, McKeefery trained more than 150 players who went on to careers in the NFL and mentored more than 100 individuals who became strength and conditioning coaches at the collegiate or professional level. His proteges included three coaches who won MLB or NBA championships and two recipients of national strength coach of the year honors in football.
McKeefery was a two-time Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, earning the honor in 2016 from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and in 2008 from the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Society.
He was also named the 2020 International Coach of the Year by S&C Education in the United Kingdom.
Playing Career
McKeefery was an all-conference defensive back at Ottawa University in Kansas, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1997. He went on to receive a master's degree from USF in 2004 and a Ph.D. from the Colorado Theological Seminary.
Personal
McKeefery and his wife, Angela, have three children: Tyler, Ava and Maya.
