2018 (FRESHMAN)
• Played in all 12 games, making one start
• Totaled eight catches for 118 yards
• Posted four receptions at Nevada, finishing with 66 yards
• Posted a season-long 31-yard reception versus Southern Utah
• Had two catches for 15 yards the following week versus Arizona
• Joined the Oregon State program in January and participated in spring workouts
DORSEY HIGH SCHOOL
• Letterwinner for head coach Charles Mincy, an NFL veteran
• Helped lead Dorsey to the CIFLACS Division I Championship game after winning its first three games by a combined 146-35 score. The team entered the playoffs as the sixth seed out of 16 teams
• Ranked as the No. 49 tight end by 247Sports and 110th overall in the state of California. Ranked 99th in California by Rivals
• Rated three stars by both 247Sports and Rivals
• First-team all-city and all-league at Dorsey
• Passed for 490 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior while also hauling in nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns
• As a junior, caught eight passes for 148 yards and five touchdowns while passing for 245 yards and one touchdown
• Finished his sophomore season with seven catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. Passed for 248 yards and three touchdowns
• Was invited to play for the USA National Team but instead enrolled arly at Oregon State
• Also participated in track at Dorsey

• Son of Kimberly Gaines and the late Wendell Smalls
• Has three brothers: Kim Thomas Jr., and Kaylin and Justin Smalls. Has one sister, Haylee, Smalls
• Earned academic honor roll every year at Dorsey
• Majoring in digital communication arts
• Chose Oregon State because “The football coaching staff made me feel like family, like I was a priority for this program. Then when I took my official visit it felt like home.”
