Lee Marks was appointed associate head coach and running backs coach in January 2026, arriving in Corvallis with a résumé that includes a Pac-12 championship, a College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance, a bowl victory as an interim head coach and a decade-long track record of developing 1,000-yard rushers.
Marks came to Oregon State after two seasons at Memphis as assistant coach and running backs coach. He previously served as assistant head coach and running backs coach at Washington from 2022-23.
Coaching Highlights
• Helped Washington to a 14-1 record in 2023, the first undefeated Pac-12 Conference record in school history, a Pac-12 title and a berth in the CFP National Championship Game
• Named Fresno State’s interim head coach following Kalen DeBoer’s departure to Washington and led the Bulldogs to a win over UTEP in the 2021 New Mexico Bowl
• Coached running backs to three consecutive seasons of NFL Combine invitations
• Directed a Memphis rushing attack that averaged 192.5 yards per game with 34 touchdowns in 2025, tied for the sixth-most in the nation
• Coached Memphis’ Mario Anderson Jr. to 1,362 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns in 2024, earning Doak Walker Award candidacy and Honorable Mention All-America honors
• Coached 1,000-yard rushers in five consecutive seasons at Boise State (2015-19), including Jeremy McNichols (1,337 in 2015; 1,709 and 27 TDs in 2016), Alexander Mattison (1,086 in 2017; 1,415 in 2018) and Freshman All-American George Holani (1,014 in 2019)
• Coached South Dakota State’s Zach Zenner to All-America honors in 2012 (2,044 rushing yards, 13 TDs), including a school-record 295-yard performance against Eastern Illinois
• Coached Fresno State’s Ronnie Rivers to first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2020; Rivers finished his career as the program’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns
