James Finley was appointed to lead Oregon State’s wide receivers in December 2025, arriving in Corvallis after four seasons at Colorado State — where he earned a Broyles Award nomination — and multiple national championships as a wide receivers coach at Mater Dei High School.
Finley came to Oregon State after joining Colorado State in January 2022. He coached tight ends for his first three seasons in Fort Collins before being promoted to wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator in January 2025.

• Nominated for the Broyles Award as one of the top assistant coaches in the nation following the 2023 season at Colorado State
• Helped Mater Dei High School win two national championships as wide receivers coach from 2018-21

• Added nine catches in the 2005 Holiday Bowl against Oklahoma
• Earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention recognition
• Began his collegiate career at Compton Community College, tallying 64 receptions for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns in 2004 while earning a top-10 national junior college wide receiver ranking from SuperPrep

Finley and his wife, Monique, have four children: Keri, Jae, Mhina and James III.
