Ben Larson is in his first season with Oregon State as special teams quality control coach. He brings more than 15 years of coaching experience, largely focused on special teams at the Division I level, with previous stops including UCF, Auburn, Colorado State, UT Martin, Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana Tech.
Larson was a special teams analyst at UCF in 2021 and at Auburn in 2020, responsible for scouting, breaking down and evaluating opponents’ special teams units. He spent four seasons (2017-20) at Colorado State as senior football analyst, where Rams punter Ryan Stonehouse earned second-team All-America and first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2018. Before that, Larson was the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at UT Martin in 2017, following a four-year run at Texas (2013-17) as a special teams analyst/quality control coach, where he helped develop punter Michael Dickson into a Ray Guy Award finalist and kicker Anthony Fera into a Lou Groza Award finalist. He began his career with stops at Tennessee (2010-13, associate strength coach/quality control), Louisiana Tech (2007-10, graduate assistant) and Northwestern State (2006-07, volunteer running backs coach).
Larson played on both the offensive and defensive lines at Susquehanna University from 2001-05, graduating in 2005 with a degree in communications.
