Ryan Gipson is in his ninth season as an assistant coach at Oregon State after joining the program in October 2018. A former OSU infielder and 2006 national champion, Gipson has helped the Beavers to a run of postseason appearances while overseeing an offense that has produced program records for home runs and runs scored, multiple All-America position players and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
Coaching Highlights
• Guided Oregon State to another NCAA Tournament appearance in 2026, with the Beavers finishing 45-14 and advancing to the Eugene Regional to extend the program’s postseason streak.
• Coached sophomore Paul Vazquez through a breakout 2026 season, taking him from a 1-for-7 line in five appearances as a freshman in 2025 to an everyday starter who batted .296 with 58 hits, 12 doubles, eight home runs, 36 RBI and an .867 OPS over 53 starts.
• Also directed senior transfer Jacob Galloway to a team-leading .304 average behind the plate in 2026, with the catcher pacing Oregon State in doubles (17) while drawing 25 walks against just 14 strikeouts and posting a .410 on-base percentage.
• Oversaw a 2025 Oregon State offense that batted .290 as a team, hit 107 home runs — the second-most in program history — and posted a .405 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage while helping the Beavers to a Super Regional appearance. Aiva Arquette (.354, 19 HR, 66 RBI) was named a Brooks Wallace Award finalist as the nation’s top shortstop, and Gavin Turley (.351, 20 HR, 69 RBI) broke the program’s career home run and career RBI records.
• Helped coach six 2025 All-Americans, the most for Oregon State since 2018. That included Arquette, the No. 7 selection in the 2025 MLB Draft.
• Helped mentor 2024 first overall MLB Draft pick Travis Bazzana, the second No. 1 selection produced during Gipson’s tenure. Bazzana was named a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy while earning All-America honors and Pac-12 Player of the Year.
• Oversaw a 2024 Oregon State offense that set a program record with 118 home runs — the second-most ever by a Pac-12 program — batted .297 as a team, collected 128 doubles and 20 triples and tied the program single-season record with 518 runs scored. Bazzana set a program single-season record with 28 home runs and Gavin Turley added 19; Turley was also named an All-American.
• Helped guide the Beavers to a 2023 NCAA Tournament appearance while fielding one of the most balanced offenses in the Pac-12. Oregon State led the league in stolen bases and walks, set the school single-season record with 89 home runs and ranked among the league’s best in batting average, doubles and runs scored.
• Coached multiple All-America position players during his tenure. Jacob Melton became one of just four players in Oregon State history to be named a First-Team All-American by at least six organizations, earning Pac-12 Player of the Year after belting 17 home runs with 22 doubles and tying the OSU single-season record with 83 RBI. Justin Boyd was also an All-American and led the Pac-12 in batting average (.373) and stolen bases (24), with Melton close behind at .360 and 21 stolen bases.
• Directed a 2022 Oregon State lineup that batted .296 as a team, led the Pac-12 with a .407 on-base percentage, 141 doubles and 83 stolen bases and led the nation with 389 walks.
• Helped Oregon State rank in the top half of the Pac-12 in runs scored, batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, walks and on-base percentage in 2021, with Troy Claunch earning All-Pac-12 honors and Garret Forrester and Jacob Melton receiving honorable mention.
• Helped Oregon State rank as one of the top fielding teams in the Pac-12 in 2019, finishing third with a .977 percentage while committing just 49 errors in 57 games, turning 43 double plays and holding opposing basestealers to a less than 60 percent success rate.

• Lettered in 2005 and 2006, helping guide Oregon State to back-to-back College World Series appearances and the 2006 national championship.
• Appeared in 79 career games with 66 starts, batting .270 with 10 doubles, a home run and 36 RBI.
• Led the then-Pac-10 with a .500 on-base percentage in 2005 and earned All-Pacific-10 Honorable Mention, batting .330 with six doubles, a triple, 22 RBI and nine stolen bases while helping the Beavers to the first of three consecutive trips to Omaha.
Shasta Community College
• Played two seasons at Shasta Community College prior to transferring to Oregon State.
Head Coach at Linn-Benton (2015-18)
• Went 119-58 (.672) in four seasons as head coach, including a 72-16 (.818) mark over his final two years.
Led the Roadrunners to a 42-4 overall record and a 29-1 mark in conference play in 2018.
