Sixteen Rowers Earn Pac-12 Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sixteen members of the Oregon State women’s rowing team named to the Pac-12 Women’s Rowing All-Academic team when it was announced by the Conference on Friday.
The Beavers placed eight student-athletes on the all-academic first team, the most in the conference, including seniors Alissa Kummer (3.89, nutrition), Katie Low (3.99, zoology), Julie Stark (3.74, public health) and Anna Taylor (3.57, public health); junior Chen Oshri (3.64, biology); and sophomores Lihani du Plessis (3.89, exercise and sport science), Joely Hannan (3.70, biochemistry & biophysics) and Theresa O'Leary (3.86, agricultural business management). It is the third consecutive first team award for Low and Stark and the second in a row for Taylor.
In addition, sophomore Alyssa Beamer (3.59, industrial engineering) garnered second team all-academic accolades.
Honorable mention selections were seniors Hailey Page and Emily Wright; juniors Arcata Leavitt; and sophomores Lily Banks, Danielle Palatin, Gabriela Smith-Tan and Emily Wayland.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled regular season events.
