Five Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

Five Oregon State rowers were named 2015 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, the CRCA announced Friday.
Lihani du Plessis (Canmore, Alberta, Canada), Katie Low (Bend, Ore.), Theresa O’Leary (Paisley, Ore.), Chen Oshri (Ramat Gan, Israel) and Julie Stark (Anchorage, Alaska) received the academic honors.
This marks the third straight year Low, a zoology major in OSU’s Honors College, and Stark, who studies public health, have received the award. Oshri, a junior studying biology, garnered the award for the second year in a row.
It is the first award for du Plessis, a sophomore studying exercise and sport science, and O’Leary, who is a sophomore studying agricultural business management.
REQUIREMENTS
· The student-athlete has met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution.
· The student-athlete was in her 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of eligibility.
· The student-athlete rowed in her institution’s NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
· The head coach of the student-athlete’s institution was a member in good standing of the CRCA as of May 1, 2015.
CRITERIA
· The student-athlete has had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).
