Ausman Wins Two Events at Lane CC Meet
Eugene, Ore. – Melissa Ausman won the discus and hammer throws and placed second in the shot put on Thursday night to lead Oregon State competitors at the Titan Twilight Meet at Lane Community College.
Ausman threw 158 feet, six inches in the discus; 153-5 in the hammer, and 40-7 in the shot put. She finished one spot ahead of teammate Rachel Picknell, who competed unattached because she is redshirting, in all three events.
Two all-time top-10 marks were bettered. Jasmin McKenzie won the long jump in 18-5 and moved into a tie with Vickie Padgett for eighth place in OSU’s career top-10. Laura Schaudt took fourth in the triple jump in 34-10.5, the eighth-best all-time mark in that event.
Other winners for the Beavers were Kerissa D’Arpino in the 100 (12.22); Ally Jackson in the high jump (5-1); Helen Ann Haun in the pole vault (11-5), and the 400 relay foursome of Church, McKenzie. Michele Turney and D’Arpino (48.19).
The Beavers are idle this weekend. They resume competition on May 1 at the third annual OSU High Performance Meet at the Whyte Track & Field Center.
