Hallock 2nd at Oregon Relays Heptathlon

Eugene, Ore. – Oregon State junior Kara Hallock set a personal-best and placed second in the heptathlon on Friday at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field.
A transfer from Lane Community College, the Lebanon High School graduate totaled 5,087 points in the two-day, seven-event completion. She easily bettered her previous best of 5,000, set on March 26-27 at the UC Riverside Spring Classic with the third-best score in OSU history.
Hallock scored 756 points in the long jump (18 feet, 8 inches); 508 points in the javelin (103-10) and 1,008 points in the 800 (2:28.28) on Friday. She had season-heptathlon bests in two of three events on Friday, and in five of the seven events overall.
Hallock scored 3,108 points on Thursday. She ran 14.29 in the 100 hurdles (938 points) and 25.10 in the 200 (878); cleared 5-4.50 in the high jump (783), and threw the shot 31-9.25 feet (509).
She is the third woman in OSU history to score more than 5,000 points. The school record is 5,592 points, by Sonja Crowther in 1982. Olympian Cindy Greiner ranks second at 5,420.
Also on Friday:
· Morgan Anderson placed 11th in the 1500 meters in 4:24.55, the second-fastest time in school history.
· Melissa Ausman was second in the discus in 164-2, a season-best by more than 11 feet.
· Maureen Tremblay won the ‘B’ section of the 800 meters in 2:15.83.
· Kaitlyn Mason took fifth in the long jump at 18-8, a season-best by five inches and the No. 6 jump in school history.
· Lucinda Howard’s leap of 18-5.25 in the long jump was the No. 8 all-time mark.
· Helen Ann Haun took third in the pole vault at 11-11.75.
· Nicole Goecke took fourth in the ‘B’ section of the 1500 in 4:36.36, a season PR by more than six seconds.
· Monica Anderson was fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:32.50.
· Holly Cavalluzzo took eighth in the 5,000 in 17:07.18, a season-best by more than seven seconds.
The meet concludes today; OSU’s first event is the hammer, at noon. The Beavers have scratched their 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
