Beavers at Hayward Field for Oregon Relays
The Oregon State track & field team will send a large contingent to the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Beavers will enter most of the track events and all of the field events at the three-day meet, which starts Thursday with the heptathlon and decathlon.
OSU has established one school record and updated their all-time top-10 performance list by more than 30 times in four previous outdoor meets this spring.
OSU’s middle-distance contingent (Morgan Anderson, Sam McKinnon, Monica Anderson, Nicole Goecke, Kelsi Schaer, Macauley Wilson) will return to action after sitting out last Friday’s John Knight Twilight Meet at Western Oregon. However, freshman thrower Hannah Troutman, the season-leader in the shot put (44-6.75) and javelin (140-4.50) won’t compete, as Friday is a busy class day.
Junior Kara Hallock is entered in the pentathlon, which starts at 1 p.m. Thursday with the 100-meter hurdles. The high jump, shot put and 200 meters will be contested on Thursday; the long jump, javelin and 800 meters will be held on Friday.
Hallock scored 5,000 points at the UC-Riverside Spring Classic on March 26-27 to become the third woman in OSU history to hit the 5,000-point milestone. The school record is 5,592 points, by Sonja Crowther in 1982. Olympian Cindy Greiner ranks second at 5,420.
