COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently awarded four Oregon State student-athletes - Mandy Close (Jr., Bozeman, MT), Katelyn Healy (Jr., Portland, OR), Lamar Hurd (Jr., Houston, TX) and Bill Swancutt (Sr., Salem, OR) - with its annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year awards - recognizing their dedication to strength training and athletic conditioning.
This year, the NSCA awarded 251 collegiate athletes from over 100 schools with this esteemed award. The OSU athletes were nominated by their respective strength coaches T.J. Ragan (Close and Hurd), Andy Dendas (Healy), and Trent Greener (Swancutt).
"These athletes are committed, dedicated, and are role models to fellow athletes of all ages," said Robert Jursnick, the NSCA's Executive Director. "They are shining examples of how their achievements have been enhanced, not by drugs, but through proper strength training and athletic conditioning. They are to be applauded for their integrity and hard work."
The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award program is in its 22nd year, and is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc., a Knoxville, Tenn. Fitness product leader.
