Championship season: Scored 9.775 on vault at NCAA Championships ... tallied 9.800 on vault at the NCAA Auburn Regional ... scored 9.800 on vault at Pac-12 Championships. Regular season: Performed in three events (V, UB & BB) in her college debut - an upset of then-No. 4 Oklahoma (1/13) - tallying season-bests on all three, 9.825 on vault and bars and 9.800 on beam ... performed in the all-around in the season’s second meet at Arizona (1/20) scoring 38.225 ... scored 9.625 in her only floor routine of the season, at Arizona.
PREP CAREER: Chelsea finished fourth in the all-around at the 2011 Junior Olympic National Championships and made the J.O. National Team … won the J.O. national title on the uneven bars in 2010 … finished first in the all-around at the Metroplex Challenge … earned second place on vault and first on beam at 2010 Region 2 Champiopnships … trained at the National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics under coaches Linda Mulvihill, Todd Wayts and Emily Coward.
PERSONAL: Born in Eugene, Oregon … daughter of Jolie and Ted Tang … Jolie and Ted are chefs and own a restaurant … has one sister, Gene, and one brother, Byron … graduated high school with a 4.0 grade point average … majoring in exercise and sport science with an option in therapy and allied health … chose OSU “because it has both strong academics and an amazing gymnastics team. It has everything I was looking for in a university.”
