Beavers Hit Four Home Runs, Come Up Short To CSUN In 10
May 01, 2026 | Baseball
Oregon State (34-12) got three RBI from Vazquez, who went 1-for-4 with his seventh home run of the season. Designated hitter Bryce Hubbard launched his ninth homer of the year, a solo shot to right-center in the third inning, while right fielder Easton Talt added a solo blast in the fourth — his fifth — to finish 1-for-5 with an RBI.
Porter entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh with Oregon State trailing by one and deposited a 2-0 pitch 379 feet over the left-field fence for the first home run of his career, tying the game at 6. AJ Singer led the club with a 2-for-5 outing that included a double, and catcher Jacob Galloway drew a pair of walks.
On the mound, starter Ethan Kleinschmit was touched for six runs — five earned — on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings, yielding three home runs before exiting in the fifth. Wyatt Queen was outstanding in relief, holding CSUN scoreless across 3 1/3 frames while striking out seven. Albert Roblez entered in the ninth and surrendered two runs in the 10th inning, absorbing the loss.
CSUN struck first in the second inning when Vaughn Coleman slugged a two-out solo shot off Kleinschmit to put the Matadors ahead, 1-0. Oregon State answered in the home half after Adam Haight reached on a throwing error by CSUN third baseman Kyle Panganiban and Galloway drew a walk. Nyan Hayes reached on a fielder's choice before Vazquez drilled a three-run homer to left off CSUN starter Charles Rogers, putting the Beavers up, 3-1. Hubbard then led off the third with a solo homer off CSUN reliever Zach Johnson, pushing the lead to 4-1.
CSUN's Coleman answered in the fourth with a two-run blast off Kleinschmit — his ninth of the season — to pull within 4-3, before Talt restored the two-run cushion with a solo shot to right field later in the frame. The Matadors seized the lead in the fifth, scoring three runs capped by freshman Mateo Rickman's two-run home run off Kleinschmit to put CSUN ahead, 6-5.
CSUN loaded the bases in the 10th on back-to-back singles by Matthew Pena and Rickman, followed by an intentional walk to Colton Boardman. Trent Abel then laid down a squeeze, plating the go-ahead run, and Roblez issued a bases-loaded walk to Panganiban to push the lead to 8-6.
