Oregon State Comes-From-Behind To Sweep UC Irvine
March 22, 2026 | Baseball
Talt, with the Beavers trailing 2-0 after five innings, homered to right on a 1-1 pitch to open the sixth inning. Prior to his at bat, Oregon State (17-5) had recorded just one hit, on a fly ball single by Talt to open the game.
The home run opened the floodgates.
AJ Singer put the Beavers ahead for good with a two-run single in the sixth, which was followed by a two-run double off the wall in right center by Paul Vazquez.
Singer hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh, a key RBI as Tommy Farmer hit a two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame to pull the Anteaters (9-14) to within two.
The Beavers, however, scored three more in the eighth, highlighted by Bryson Glassco's first home run at Oregon State, en route to the eventual 9-5 win.
Oregon State recorded 11 of its 12 hits in addition to all nine runs from the sixth inning on. Talt, Bryce Hubbard and Jacob Galloway all recorded two hits in the series finale.
Trey Morris, the first of three relievers on the afternoon, was the recipient of the run support. He went 2 1/3 innings, allowing Farmer's home run while striking out four. He got the win, the first of his collegiate career.
Eric Segura started and tied a career single-game high with eight strikeouts in four innings. He gave way to Morris in the fifth and allowed two runs on two hits.
Zach Edwards tossed two scoreless innings, striking out three for his first save of 2026. OSU, as a staff, recorded 15 strikeouts and 45 for the three-game series.
Finnegan Wall was sharp for UC Irvine through five innings, but was the pitcher of record when the Beavers went ahead in the sixth. He gave up four runs on four hits while striking out four. Wall took the loss to drop to 1-1.
Oregon State remains in California for a couple more days as the Beavers prepare to take on USC Tuesday afternoon at Dedeaux Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. PT.
