STARTING FAST
Picked to finish second in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches' Poll, Oregon State is off to a great start in conference play, rattling off three straight with victories over Washington State, Texas State and Fresno State. Across those three matches, AC Froehlich leads the conference in kills (61) and kills per set (4.36), Alana Marrs leads in hitting percentage (.535), Jackie Matias' 166 assists and 11.86 per set are top mark and the duo of Yasemin Narlioglu and Isabel Bertelsen are leading all athletes with 0.5 aces per set, while their seven aces each is part of a three-way tie for first.
Â
STELLAR SENIOR SETTER
Matias is having a career year in 2026, as she enters this weekend's matches averaging 10.32 assists per set, finishing with 30 or more in eight matches and amassing four double-doubles. Over the weekend, the Honolulu, Hawai'i, native had two more strong showings, starting with a line of 44 assists, seven digs, two kills and two aces against Texas State before topping 50 assists for the third time this season with 54 against Fresno State; she added three blocks, five digs and two digs against the Bulldogs.
Â
For her efforts, Matias has been recognized as the conference's Setter of the Week three times, becoming first player since 2017 to earn three or more player of the week awards in the same season; Kaylee McLaughlin was recognized three times as Freshman of the Week and Mary-Kate Marshall was a three-time Offensive Player of the Week honoree.
Â
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Isabel Bertelsen's defense has been a key part of the Beavers' success this season and that continued against Texas State and Fresno State. The Orlando, Fla., native extended her streak of matches with double-digit digs to seven-consecutive, contributing 13 on Thursday before a 21-dig, four-ace performance Saturday that was her second 20-plus dig performance of the season, last totaling 25 against Arizona on Sept. 12. Entering this weekend's play, she ranks fifth in the Pac-12 with 183 digs, while her average of 3.66 per set sits at No. 6.
Â
MARRS MANIA
Alana Marrs dominated Saturday's match, hitting .692 on her way to a career-best 18 kills in a five set, come-from-behind victory over Fresno State. A sophomore from Ellensburg, Wash., Marrs had seven kills in a crucial fourth set that saw the Beavers level the match at two apiece. Her previous career high, 15, came against Portland State on Sept. 20, 2025, while Saturday's performance was her third time in double-digits this season.
Â
DYNAMIC DUO
Froehlich and Taylor Treahy have been central to the Beavers' potent offense this season, both ranking top five in the conference for kills per set and both producing double-digit kills in both matches over the weekend. Froehlich leads the Oregon State attack with 194 kills this season (3.88 per set) and had totals of 18 and 16 against Texas State and Fresno State, while Treahy sits at 148 kills (3.44 per set) with a 13 kill performance on Thursday, adding 18 more on Saturday.
Â
