Marrs’ Career Day Fuels Come-From-Behind Victory
October 03, 2026 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Alana Marrs hit .692 on her way to a career-best 18 kills in a five set, come-from-behind victory over Fresno State on Saturday at Gill Coliseum.
Â
A sophomore from Ellensburg, Wash., Marrs had seven kills in a crucial fourth set that saw the Beavers level the match at two apiece. Her previous career high, 15, came against Portland State on Sept. 20, 2025, while Saturday's performance was her third time in double-digits this season.
Â
Taylor Treahy tied with Marrs for the match-high mark, contributing 18 kills of her own, and AC Froehlich totaled 16 kills, five digs, three blocks and two assists. Taray Tela led the way with five blocks, chipping in eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Cheyenne Green provided five kills and four digs.
Â
Isabel Bertelsen's tremendous defensive efforts continued against the Bulldogs, surpassing 20 digs for the second time this season with 21 in the match, making it seven-consecutive with double-digit digs. Saturday's performance was her highest single match total since recording 25 against Arizona on Sept. 12 as she also amassed a team and match high four service aces.
Â
Yasemin Narlioglu set a new career high with three aces of her own, adding five receptions and nine digs, while Jackie Matias finished the match with 54 assists, five digs, two aces and three blocks.
Â
Oregon State exploded out of the gate, taking an 8-1 lead and drawing a Fresno State timeout. The domination continued after Fresno State brought the score within six, as another long run, this time 8-0, paved the way for a commanding 25-12 win in the first set.
Â
The Beavers continued to cruise in set two, a 4-0 run capped off by one of Matias' aces making the score 10-5. Fresno didn't go quietly, however, as a pair of short runs midway through the set brought the match within one. After kills by Tela and Froehlich made it 21-18 in favor of OSU, the Bulldogs rattled off seven straight points to win the set.
Â
Both teams battled in the third, which featured seven tied scores and three lead changes, but Fresno came out on top, 25-21, to take a 2-1 lead.
Â
Marrs' seven-kill takeover started just two rallies into the fourth and proved pivotal as OSU consistently managed a multi-point lead on its way to a match-leveling set victory. Marrs combined with Treahy for a block that capped a 5-0 run late in the set to put the team ahead 22-16, riding that momentum to a 25-20 win.
Â
The fifth set was back-and-forth early, though the Beavers struck first with a 3-0 run that turned a one-point deficit into a 7-5 lead. After back-to-back Fresno State points, Treahy had two kills in a stretch of four-consecutive for the Beavs, taking an 11-7 lead that was key as Oregon State pulled out a 15-13 set win to earn victory number eight on the season.
Â
With the result, Oregon State improves to 8-6 on the season and 7-0 when playing inside Gill Coliseum, also making it three unbeaten in Pac-12 play.
Â
Beaver Volleyball is on the road for its next four matches, facing San Diego State, Colorado State, Texas State and Fresno State, returning home for an Oct. 24 clash with Utah State.
