Beavers Dominate Offensively in 30-Point Win At Colorado State
October 03, 2026 | Football
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Braden Atkinson threw for 430 yards and five touchdowns, and Jesse Legree caught three of them, as Oregon State opened Pac-12 play with a 56-26 win at Colorado State on Saturday at Canvas Stadium.
The Beavers (3-2, 1-0 Pac-12) won back-to-back road games for the first time since 2022 and 2023.Â
Atkinson completed his first 16 passes, which broke Matt Booher's school record of 15 straight, set Oct. 28, 1989 against California. He finished 31Â of 35Â and topped 300 yards for the fifth straight game. That leaves him two short of Sean Mannion's school-record seven in a row in 2013.
Legree caught five passes for 159Â yards and scored on plays of 50, 28 and 52 yards. His fifth consecutive 100-yard game ties Mike Hass (2005) and Brandin Cooks (2013) for the longest streak in OSU history. He now has nine touchdown catches this season.
Oregon State scored on its opening drive for the third straight game, a six-play, 75-yard march capped by Legree's 50-yard catch. Gabe Milbourn followed with a 2-yard touchdown run, the first carry of his career, to make it 14-0 after a 13-play, 96-yard drive, the Beavers' longest of the season.
Colorado State answered and tied the game at 14 early in the second quarter on Ksaan Farrar's 1-yard run. Oregon State then scored 21 straight points. Aaron Butler broke free for a 30-yard score, the first rushing touchdown of his career. Eric Olsen caught a 5-yard pass, and Legree added his 28-yarder with 44 seconds left to make it 35-14 at the half, matching the Beavers' season high for a first frame.
Olsen caught a second touchdown, from 8 yards out, in the third quarter. It came after Drake Vickers intercepted the first pass of his career. Cornell Hatcher Jr. later broke the huddle and ran 11 yards for a score at the end of the quarter. Legree capped the day with his 52-yard catch in the fourth.
Olsen finished with nine catches for 65 yards. He has caught a pass in 20 straight games.
The ground game added 291 yards. AJ Newberry led the way with 90 yards on 15 carries, and Hatcher added 86 yards on seven. The Beavers converted seven of eight third downs and scored on eight of their 11 possessions.
Defensively, Oregon State held Colorado State to 371 yards. The Rams' first drive ended on downs at the OSU 4-yard line, after 71 yards. Takari Hickle recorded a tackle for loss in his ninth straight game, and finished with two. Aiden Sullivan led the team with nine tackles, and Gyriece Goodman added eight.
Oregon State returns home to face San Diego State on Saturday, Oct. 10. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. PT on USA Network.
