
Beavers Drop Pac-12 Opener

PULLMAN, Wash.  – The Oregon State women's soccer team dropped its Pac-12 opener to Washington State 3-1 Thursday evening in Pullman, Wash.

London Tsuma scored her second goal of the season, finding the net from point-blank range after Emily Brandt's shot deflected off the crossbar.

The Beavers fell behind early, as the Cougars scored less than three minutes into the contest. Washington State added a second five minutes later. Grace Wetzel forced a save, looking to pull one back. The Cougars added a third goal in the 28th minute.

Oregon State came close to scrambling one home in the 33rd minute, but had multiple attempts on goal blocked by the WSU defense. Alex Anger placed one just over the bar shortly before the intermission, as Washington State headed to the break in front 3-0.

The Beavers got off to a stronger start in the second half, creating some dangerous chances within the first 15 minutes of the period. Tsuma was able to pull one back in the 79th minute, but Oregon State could not get closer as the Cougars claimed the two-goal win.

Amber Ogbolu made her Oregon State debut in the contest, after missing the beginning of the season playing for Nigeria at the U21 Women's World Cup.

The Beavers will be back at Lorenz Field next week for matchups with San Diego State and Texas State.
