BEST ONE YET:
Beaver gymnastics had its best outing of the young season against Sacramento State last weekend, finishing with season-high marks for team score (196.375), bars (49.050), beam (49.125) and floor (49.350) while tying for a season best vault score (48.850). Entering the meet with a combined two event titles across two meets, OSU swept the awards ceremony with a Beaver tallying the highest score on each event.
BUCKNER'S BIG MEET:
Olivia Buckner had a great meet against the Hornets, hitting on vault before earning a pair of 9.875s for her beam and floor routines. Buckner, who has now competed in 30 competitions across her OSU career, set a new career high on floor, having previously earned a 9.850 on two occasions, last coming at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Semifinal last season.
CAREER HIGH:
Ellie Weaver's improvements week-over-week continued against Sacramento State, earning a 9.775 on beam before setting a new personal best with a 9.950 for her bars routine. Friday's bars score made it three-consecutive weeks with an improved score, having earned a 9.750 in the opener and 9.800 at BYU; Weaver is now one of just 10 gymnasts in the nation to earn a 9.950 or better this season on the uneven bars.
LEADOFF SPOT:
Kyanna Crabb has led off the Beaver vault lineup in every meet this season, and on Friday made some noise in that spot, setting a new season and career high thanks to a 9.875. With the strong score, Crabb is now averaging a 9.767 on that event, which ranks second on the team.
ALL-AROUNDER:
Sophia Esposito competed in the all-around on Friday and had a tremendous showing that included a new career high. Starting the meet off with a 9.850 for her vault, that aforementioned career high came for the Beaver bars lineup, as the Melville, N.Y., native earned a 9.900 that surpassed a 9.875 that was earned against Arizona State during her freshman season; the meet was rounded out with a 9.825 on the beam before earning a 9.925 for her floor routine. In total, Esposito finished with a 39.500 in the all-around and won a pair of event titles (FX, AA) while ranking second for vault.
THREE'S A PARTY:
Sophia Kaloudis has appeared in all three of Oregon State's competitions this season, competing out of the leadoff spot in the floor lineup while twice exhibitioning on beam. Against Sacramento State, Kaloudis earned her spot in a trio of OSU lineups, hitting on bars and beam before setting a new career high during the Beavers' final rotation, earning a 9.850 for a floor lineup that counted nothing less than a 9.825.
DOUBLE TROUBLE:
Savannah Miller has competed on vault, bars and floor in each week this season, including Friday's home meet. Against the Hornets, Miller had a strong showing, earning season-high marks on both vault (9.750) and bars (9.800) while tying her season high on floor (9.875). Through three competitions in 2025, the Waterford, Mich., native has hit on all nine of her routines.
FANTASTIC FLOOR:
The Beavers' final rotation was crucial in posting the team's highest team score of the year, as OSU only counted scores over 9.800: 9.825 (Paulina Vargas), 9.850 (Kaloudis), 9.875 (Buckner and Miller) and 9.925 (Esposito). OSU's floor lineup has shown itself to be one of the team's most important, ranking No. 21 nationally which sits five spots behind beam (No. 16) but ahead of the Beaver bars and vault lineups. Last season the team ranked 15th nationally on floor but, in the offseason, lost four of the top six scorers by average to graduation, returning just Esposito and Miller.
UP NEXT:
Oregon State gymnastics will hit the road for its next meet, heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a dual at Alabama. The action is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. PT / 6:30 p.m. CT next Friday, Jan. 30.
