
Beavers Open Indoor Season with Record Book Performances at UW Preview

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State opened the 2026 indoor track and field season with a strong two-day showing at the UW Preview, highlighted by seven personal bests and 10 new top 10 records.
Friday's action was led by Maella Hodgson, who claimed the 3000m B section title with a winning time of 9:43.88. Delaney Ulrich followed in eighth at 9:56.02, while Payton Smith placed 10th and clocked a personal best of 9:57.02. Reese Morkert rounded out the event for Oregon State.
Carley Strand placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.30m to move into ninth all-time in program history, while Kate Kubacki finished 11th in the high jump at 1.45m.
Saturday brought a surge of momentum for the Beavers. In the mile, Oregon State dominated the results with three personal bests that reshaped the program record book. Ainsley Herron ran 4:39.87 to place 10th, moving to fourth all-time at OSU and into the NCAA top 10. Maya Baechler followed closely in 11th with a 4:40.28 personal best, now fifth all-time, while Ruby Broadbent's 4:42.49 personal best placed her sixth in program history.
Baechler continued her standout weekend in the 800m, finishing second overall with a personal best of 2:08.48 to move from sixth to third on Oregon State's all-time list. Herron placed fifth at 2:09.87, Broadbent ran 2:12.66 to move into ninth all-time, and O'Beirne added another personal best at 2:13.95.
Noemi Lundgren highlighted the distance events later in the day with a 17-second personal best in the 3000m, finishing seventh in 9:18.88 to move to fourth all-time at OSU.
Dede Norman tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.79m, while Claire Lee placed fifth in the invitational pole vault at 3.73m.
Megan Hatcher recorded an OSU top-10 mark in the 60m hurdles prelims, and Callie Brandes added a program top-10 time in the 60m prelims. Oregon State capped the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400m relay,
