BE THE CHANGE:
Friday's meet against Sacramento State is the Beavers' Be the Change Meet, where athletes will wear different colored ribbons in honor of causes athletes wish to represent. From girl's empowerment (pink) to mental health awareness (light green) and child abuse awareness (blue), each unique ribbon will represent a different cause.
FIVE STARS FOR THE FIVE SPOT:
Reina Marchal, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., didn't compete as a freshman but has featured in both of the Beavers' meets in 2026. After hitting on floor at the Best of the West Quad, Marchal made some noise at BYU, earning a 9.850 for her routine while competing out of the five spot, which came during a run of strong scores for the Beavs.
COMEBACK > SETBACK:
Ellie Weaver had a great meet for the Beavers in Provo, earning a 9.800 on bars in the team's first rotation before posting a 9.850 in the anchor spot on beam in the final rotation. For the Battle Ground, Wash., native, her performances continue to improve after returning from a long-term injury late in the 2025 regular season, having earned a pair of 9.800s during exhibition bar routines before officially returning to the lineup at the regional in April 2025.
SETUP SPOTS:
Oregon State has consistently exceled on the balance beam under Head Coach Tanya Chaplin, and the lineup enters Friday's meet as the team's highest ranked lineup. Before Weaver's 9.850, it was Lauren Letzsch (9.800) and Mia Heather (9.775) setting the stage, with Letzsch now earning a 9.800 or better in both meets this season and Heather improving to five hits in five career routines dating back to last season.
BIG 50:
After vaulting for the first time as a Beav in last week's meet, Miller was back in the lineup again, helping fuel another three-lineup performance for the senior from Waterford, Mich., who hit on both bars and floor before a tone-setting 9.875 midway through the Beaver floor lineup. Not only was the 9.875 within striking distance of her the career-high 9.900 that she's earned eight different times, it also was her 50th completed routine as a collegiate gymnast. On a young roster such as the one in 2026, Miler is now one of just four OSU student-athletes who have completed 50 or more routines at the collegiate level.
ANOTHER ONE:
A member of the Mexican senior national team, Paulina Vargas didn't compete during her freshman season but, like Marchal, has been in the floor lineup during both meets as a sophomore. After a 9.700 in Seattle, Vargas improved by over one tenth against BYU, scoring a 9.825 that was one of four 9.800-plus scores the team counted, helping fuel a 49.200 rotation score that was the highest of either team across the entire meet.
THREE'S A PARTY:
Camryn Richardson made her Oregon State debut last week in Seattle on bars and vault, but on Friday in Provo, the Pearland, Texas, native made her way into the floor lineup, earning a 9.750. Despite a miss on vault, she earned a 9.800 on bars and is now up to five total routines in the 2026 season, joining Esposito and Miller as the only Beavers with five or more.
UP NEXT:
Oregon State remains at home for its next meet, hosting Utah State at 1 p.m. inside Gill Coliseum next Sunday, Jan. 25.
