Kyra Ly Posts Another Top 10 Finish To Lead Beavers
April 09, 2025 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team concluded the Silverado Showdown on Wednesday with its best round on the final day.
The Beavers jumped two spots up the leaderboard to finish in 10th place with a 29-over 297-308-288—893 at the par-72, 6,207-yard Silverado Resort South Course. The even-par 288 in the final round was the fourth-best final day score in the 16-team field.
Leading the final round charge were Kyra Ly (2-under 70), Madde Sund (1-under 71) and Raya Nakao (even-par 72).
Ly continued her spectacular junior campaign with another Top 10 placing – her fourth this season and seventh in her career – after shooting a 2-under 71-73-70—214 to finish in a tie for eighth place. She was just outside the Top 10 going into the final hole, but eagled the par-5, 462-yard ninth to close the tournament in exciting fashion.
A native of Portland, Ly has been on fire this spring with a tie for 21st at the San Diego State Classic, an individual title at the Causeway Invitational, a tie for 20th at the Meadow Club Invitational, a tie for third at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational and a tie for eighth at the Silverado Showdown.
Nine of Ly's 15 rounds this spring have been in red figures, including an Oregon State record 7-under 65 in the first round of the Causeway Invitational.
Nakao, a sophomore from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, was the next highest Beaver on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 31st place, with a 6-over 72-78-72—222. She has also been hot of late with six of her last eight rounds at 72 or better.
Sund climbed 20 spots up the leaderboard with her final round 71 to finish in a tie for 53rd place with a 12-over 78-79-71—228. She had three birdies in the final round after getting two on the first two days combined. Sund now has six sub-par scores as a senior, her most in a season in her four years at Oregon State.
True freshman Clara Alevag had her best score in the final round that helped her finish in a tie for 65th place with a 15-over 76-80-75—231.
Rebecca Kim was two strokes back of Alevag, posting a 17-over 78-78-77—233 to finish in a tie for 69th place.
Northwestern won the team title with a 3-under 861 and Lauryn Nguyen of Northwestern claimed medalist honors with a 9-under 207.
The Beavers will next compete at the WCC Championship, which is scheduled for Thursday, April 17 through Saturday, April 19 in Fairfield, Calif.
