EUGENE, Ore. – Ethan Kleinschmit struck out a season-high 12 batters and No. 3 Oregon State rallied late but lost 3-2 to No. 13 Oregon Sunday afternoon at PK Park.

Aiva Arquette hit his 16^th home run of the season in the eighth to trim Oregon's lead to one. Levi Jones then hit a pinch hit double with one down in the ninth, but he was stranded at second as the Ducks (30-12) finished the game.

Kleinschmit, making his 11^th start of the season, struck out the first five batters he faced en route to the 12, which marked a season-high by any Oregon State (32-10) pitcher.

The lefty scattered four hits and three runs in six innings of work. He gave up a solo home run to Jacob Walsh in a two-run fourth and then a second to Maddox Molony in the sixth.

Kleinschmit upped his season strikeout tally to 73 in 59 innings but took the loss, dropping to 6-2 on the year.

Jason Reitz started for Oregon and improved to 2-0 after holding the Beavers to one run on one hit with five walks and a strikeout in five innings.

Oregon State drew four consecutive walks in the second off Reitz, with the last coming with Trent Caraway at the plate, driving in the Beavers' first run of the game.
