Beavers Come-From-Behind For 12th Straight Win
April 22, 2025 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Aiva Arquette and Gavin Turley combined for five RBI in the sixth inning to propel third-ranked Oregon State to a come-from-behind 8-3 win over Gonzaga Tuesday, extending the Beavers' win streak to a season-long 12 games.
The Beavers' 12 game-win streak is now the nation's longest after West Virginia lost to Penn State, 3-2, on Tuesday, snapping the Mountaineers' 14-gamer.
Arquette put Oregon State up for good with a bloop single down the right field line that split three Gonzaga defenders. Turley then hit his 14th home run of the season off the scoreboard in right to push Oregon State's (32-7) lead to four.
Bryce Hubbard gave the Beavers an insurance run with an RBI single in the eighth for the final 8-3 tally.
The Oregon State bullpen was stellar for the second consecutive game. Tanner Douglas, Zach Edwards and Zach Kmatz combined for 5 1/3 scoreless innings, holding Gonzaga to one hit and three walks while striking out four. Douglas, the first of the three relievers, earned the win to improve to 1-0. He allowed just one hit with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Gonzaga (18-19) scored the game's first three runs, plating two in the first and one more in the fourth. The Beavers, however, mounted their comeback in the bottom half of the inning. Canon Reeder drove in OSU's first run on a groundout to third, then watched as a few batters later, Dawson Santana singled past second base for his first career hit and first RBI.
Michael Cunneely took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing four hits and five runs in 2/3 of an inning. He is 1-2 on the year.
AJ Singer had three of the Beavers' nine hits to lead the team. Turley tallied two and walked twice as Oregon State posted 10 as a team.
