February 21, 2025 | Women's Gymnastics
FORT WORTH, Texas – Kaitlin Garcia vaulted her way to a career high as Oregon State gymnastics finished third in the 2025 Metroplex Challenge against No. 14 Arkansas, No. 19 Arizona and SEMO.
Garcia's 9.925 came in the third rotation when Oregon State combined to post a 49.225 and it also came on the heels of a floor routine that earned her a 9.800. For the San Diego, Calif, native, Friday's vault score was a new career high, surpassing the 9.900 she earned at the season opener in Oceanside.
Several Beavers put up strong scores during the final rotation, when OSU scored another 49.225. Natalie Briones earned a 9.850 while Jennifer McMillan scored a 9.800, before Sage Thompson (9.875) and Jade Carey (9.950) rounded out the rotation.
For the eighth time in eight meets, Carey won the all-around, this time finishing with a 39.675 while also winning event titles on bars (9.925), beam (9.950) and floor (9.925). With the all-around score, she claimed sole possession of the program record for 39-plus all-around scores in school history, with Friday's number 40 putting Carey just ahead of Jami Lanz (2006-09), who accomplished the feat 39 times.
Oregon State gymnastics returns to action next weekend in California, competing in a quad meet hosted by Stanford.
