
No. 1 Ranked Beavs Travel to Spokane

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ranked No. 1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the second week in a row, the Oregon State Track and Field team will compete in the MPSF Championships on Friday and Saturday in Spokane, Wash.

The Beavers are set to compete for their first conference title since the rebirth of the program with several student-athletes ranked at the top of the MPSF heading into the weekend.

Sitting at first in the MPSF for shot put and weight throw, Jayla Hooper's personal best in the weight throw of 20.71m/67-11.5 is more than three feet further than the winning throw at last year's championship.

The distance medley relay team sits atop the conference at 11:32.90. The school record bettered last year's championship time of 11:36.13. The 4x400 relay team is placed second in the rankings.

Beating last year's winning jump of 5.97m/19-6, Dede Norman's personal best of 5.99m/19-8 puts her at second for long jump in the MPSF. Norman's high jump clearance of 1.83m/6 gives her the number-one spot in the conference.

Freshman Bea Pettersson holds second in shot put and fourth in weight throw in the MPSF.
Leading the Beavs in the 5,000 meters, Kate Laurent and Delaney Griffin sit at fourth and fifth, respectively.

Jada Hurley will start the weekend with the preliminary round of the 60 meters on Friday at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, the competition will resume with Ainsley Herron, Sydney Partyka, Sage Brooks and Ruby Broadbent competing in the mile at 10:45 a.m.

The Beavers wrapped their two-meet weekend with standout performances, highlighted by a school record in the 4x400 meter relay. Megan Hatcher, Addison Swartzendruber, Jada Hurley and Dede Norman improved their previous mark, clocking 3:42.61 to place 10th at the Don Kirby Invitational.

Jayla Hooper extended her previous record in the weight throw with a toss of 20.71m/67-11.5 to secure second place, while Bea Pettersson ser a personal best of 17.95m/58-10.75, moving up to second place in OSU history. Lexi Hunt and Norman tied for first in the high jump, both clearing 1.77m/5-9.75. Claire Lee climbed to No. 3 in OSU's pole vault rankings with a 3.78m/12-4.75 clearance.

At the Husky Classic, the distance squad posted strong results, led by Kate Laurent's 10th-place finish in the 3,000 meters with a personal best of 9:16.26. Ainsley Herron led the Beavs in the mile, clocking 4:43.46 for 16th. In the 800 meters, Jillian Brown delivered OSU's top finish of the day, placing 14th in 2:09.14.
