
Track and Field Adds 17 Personal Bests

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon State Track and Field team wrapped up its weekend at the UW Invitational on Saturday with 17 new personal bests.

Jayla Hooper dominated the weight throw, securing first place with a stellar throw of 20.93m/ 66-10.75). Beatrice Pettersson claimed seventh place with a personal best of 16.54m/54-3.25, moving to #5 in OSU history. Markayla Billings also achieved a personal best, throwing 16.21m/53-2.24 for ninth place and securing the #7 spot all-time. Katie Gelston rounded out the top performances with a PB of 15.73m/51-7.25, earning 11th place and the #9 spot in OSU history.

The mile featured numerous personal bests as Ainsley Herron led the Beavers with a best of 4:45.98, earning the #6 spot in OSU history. Sage Brooks followed closely, finishing in 34th with a PB of 4:47.88, #8 OSU all-time, while Delaney Griffin secured 38th with a personal best of 4:49.46, #9 OSU all-time. Additional personal bests came from Kate Laurent who ran a 4:52.15, Ruby Broadbent posted 4:53.03, Molly Latincsics finsihed in 4:55.15, Erin Cosgrove with a time of 4:56.61, and Jamie Hamlin posting 4:57.77, highlighting the team's depth.
In the high jump, Grace Proudfoot and Lexi Hunt both cleared 1.64m (5-4.25), earning 6th and 7th places, respectively. Megan Hatcher finished 14th in the 400 meters with a time of 56.90, while Riley Patera achieved a personal best of 59.35 to place 22nd.
Jayla Hooper continued her strong showing in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 14.76m/48-5.25, improving her #3 spot in OSU history. Beatrice Pettersson followed in third with a PB of 14.54m/48-5.25, moving to #4 all-time at OSU.
In the 800 meters, Jillian Brown led the way with a personal best of 2:07.98, earning eighth place and the #2 spot in OSU history. Maya Baechler followed in 14th with a time of 2:10.87. Jenna O'Beirne posted a time of 2:14.04, Ava McKee finished in 2:16.91, Ellie Quintana in 2:19.13, Ruby Lorenz raced for 2:21.19, and Sydney Van Der Zee rounded out the Beavs with a time of 2:29.88.
DAY ONE
The Oregon State Track and Field team kicked off the UW Invitational with three personal bests on Friday. Dede Norman showcased her versatility in her pentathlon debut, setting a personal best of 8.93 in the 60m hurdles, ranking #6 in OSU history. She claimed first in the high jump with a 1.70m/5-7 clearance, placed 13th in shot put throwing 8.96m/29-4.75, and finished 12th in long jump, jumping 5.08m/16-8 before opting out of the 800 meters. The distance squad excelled in the 3,000 meters, led by Delaney Griffin who finished in 9:27.69, with personal bests from Molly Latincsics of 9:31.68 and Payton Smith of 10:06.16.
In field events, Claire Lee and Mia Fowler cleared 3.71m/12-2 in the pole vault, finishing 12th and 14th, respectively. On the track, Mersayis Shedd ran 26.81 in the 200 meters for 32nd place. The Distance Medley Relay teams shined, with the quartet of Maya Baechler, Jillan Brown, Ellie Quintana, and Sydney Partyka finishing fourth, posting 11:32.90, earning the #5 spot in OSU history. Close behind, Sage Brooks, Sydney Van Der Zee, Jenna O'Beirne, and Kate Laurent secured fifth with a time of 11:34.06, ranking #6 all-time, while Ruby Broadbent, Ruby Lorenz, Ellie Hull, and Ainsley Herron clocked 11:37.74, marking the #8 spot in program history.
