
Beavers Wrap Up Day One in Seattle with Three Personal Bests

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon State Track and Field team started the weekend at the UW Invitational with three personal bests on Friday.

Showcasing her versatility, Dede Norman competed in the pentathlon for the first time. She opened with a personal best of 8.93 in the 60m hurdles, securing the #6 spot in OSU history. Norman jumped to first place in the high jump, clearing 1.70m/5-7 with ease. In the shot put, she recorded a distance of 8.96m/29-4.75), finishing 13th, and added a 12th-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.08m/16-8. Norman did not start in the 800 meters.
The 3,000 meters featured strong efforts from the distance squad. Delaney Griffin led the charge, finishing 12th with a time of 9:27.69. Molly Latincsics shaved an impressive 15 seconds off her previous best, clocking in at 9:31.68 for 16th place. Erin Cosgrove followed with a time of 9:46.59, placing 39th. Payton Smith notched an 18-second personal best, finishing in 10:06.16 for 61st. Sophia Stubblefield (10:15.21), Reese Morkert (10:15.33), and Eliza Eckman (10:15.36) crossed the line within seconds of each other, rounding out a strong finish.
In the pole vault, Claire Lee and Mia Fowler both cleared 3.71m/12-2, securing 12th and 14th places, respectively. In the 200 meters, Mersayis Shedd clocked 26.81 seconds to finish 32nd.Â
The Distance Medley Relay teams delivered impressive performances. The quartet of Maya Baechler, Jillan Brown, Ellie Quintana, and Sydney Partyka placed fourth with a time of 11:32.90, earning the #5 spot in OSU history. Close behind, Sage Brooks, Sydney Van Der Zee, Jenna O'Beirne, and Kate Laurent claimed fifth place at 11:34.06, moving to #6 all-time. The team of Ruby Broadbent, Ruby Lorenz, Ellie Hull, and Ainsley Herron rounded out the top performances with an 11:37.74 finish, marking the #8 spot in OSU history
The Beavs are back at 10 a.m. on Saturday for weight throw and long jump.
