SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
Saturday's game will be the Beavs' first time facing Seattle U in the Behonick Era, the last meeting in 2019, with OSU holding an 8-0 advantage in the all-time series.
ACE IN THE PLACE
Against Pacific, Jackie Matias served up three service aces, tying a season and career high to help push the Beavs to the win. It was the third time this season that Matias has put up three aces in a single match, with the previous two instances also coming in three set wins. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native is now in sole possession of second place on the team with 22 aces on the year, sitting three behind Tia Shum, who leads the team at 25.
DOESN'T MATTER THE TIME OR THE PLACE
The Beavs have put on a consistent showing, whether they are on the road or at home in Gill Coliseum. Currently, OSU's 8-3 record on the road is the same as their 8-3 record at home.
SET ONE, SET WON
OSU has exceled at building early momentum this season. Through 25 matches in 2025, the Beavers have won the first set in 14 matches, holding a 14-4 record when doing so, and Saturday's win over the Tigers also ended a three-match run of first set losses, though Oregon State was victorious in two of those three matches.
SCORING
No team in the West Coast Conference has scored as consistently as Oregon State this season. Entering this week's matches, the Beavers' 17.37 points per set leads the conference, ahead of Washington State (17.29) and Pepperdine (17.24) as the only other schools with 17 or more per set; Lauren Rumel's 4.2 points per set ranks third among all athletes in the conference.
DEFENSE
As a team, OSU has also been among the conference's best defensively. Through 90 sets played, the Beaver defense ranks third in opponent hitting percentage, limiting opposing teams to a .189 clip, while ranking first in solo blocks (75), second in digs per set (13.83), second in blocks per set (2.53) and third in total blocks (228).
Alana Marrs (1.11/set) and Nathalie Scholz (1.10/set) both rank in the top 10 among all WCC student-athletes for blocks per set, as Marrs sits in fifth place while Scholz is in seventh.
YOUTH
A big chunk of the Beavers' scoring this year has come from underclassmen. Though led by Rumel (381.5), Marrs (263.5) and Cormier (251.5), both freshmen, are in second and third place on the roster. Graduate student Annika Hester (234.5) is in fourth with sophomore Nathalie Scholz (137.5) in fifth and followed by freshmen Keila Gabriel (74.5), Cheyenne Green (48.0) and Bridget Gould (45.5).
On a roster with 17 student-athletes, the Beavers have just five upperclassmen, which includes a trio of graduate students (Hester, Shum, Vivian Light), one senior (Rumel) and one junior (Matias).
WORLDWIDE
Oregon State has four international student-athletes, which is second in the league behind San Francisco (seven); in the previous two years in the Behonick era, the Beavs had three each year. International Beavs include Cormier (Canada), Yasemin Narlioglu (Turkey), Scholz (Germany) and Shum (Canada).
BACK THE PAC
Oregon State will close its two-year stint as an affiliate member of the WCC at the conclusion of the 2025 season. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State will join OSU and Washington State in a rebuilt Pac-12 starting next season.
