
Beavers to Open '25 with No. 5 Ohio State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team will open the 2025 calendar year with a Sunday dual against fifth-ranked Ohio State on the road in Columbus, Ohio. Sunday's matchup will mark the second with a Big Ten foe this season and first since the season opener against Iowa.
Action from the Ohio capital is set for a 10 a.m. PT start.

B1G Start to 2025
• The Oregon State wrestling team will kick off the new year in Columbus, Ohio against the fifth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
• It will be the second matchup with a Big Ten opponent of the season and first since the season opener back in November against second-ranked Iowa.
• Excluding 2009-10, the Beavers have faced at least one Big Ten in every season.
OSU vs. OSU
• It will be the ninth time these OSUs have faced each other and first since the 2001-02 season, a 23-13 win for the Beavers.
• The Beavers last faced Ohio State in Columbus in the 1994-95 season.
Battle Tested
• Entering just the fifth dual of the season, the Beavers will meet their third ranked opponent.
• Two of the first three - Iowa and Oklahoma State - were ranked second and fourth, respectively when the duals occured.
• The Buckeyes - who check in at fifth (both dual and team tournament) in the latest Intermat poll - are the latest ranked foe and first on the road.

Last Time Out
• Oregon State took a second-place finish at the 2024 Reno Tournament of Champions to close the month of December.
• CJ Hamblin (157) and Justin Rademacher (197 - unattached) won their weight class titles while Ayden Garver (149) finished runner-up while five others finished in the top-six.
• Hamblin capped an undefeated weekend with a 5-0 day in Reno after winning by technical fall in the dual at Utah Valley (Dec. 20).
Looking Ahead
• For the first time in more than two months, Oregon State will return to the familiar comforts of Gill Coliseum on January 19th when they host Wyoming.
• The Beavers and Cowboys will meet for the 37th time in a series OSU holds a 24-12 advantage and wins in each of the last three meetings.
• These programs have met near-annually since the 2014-15 campaign with the exception of 2020-21.
• Wyoming will be the fourth - and final - Big 12 foe on the season for Oregon State following meetings with Oklahoma State and North Dakota State back in November and Utah Valley to close December.
• Oregon State's next dual will be the first of four at home in 2025.
