Brown Scores in Loss at Seattle U
September 08, 2024 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE, Wash. – Senior Aidan Brown scored her first goal of the 2024 season as Oregon State women's soccer fell, 4-1, in a road game against Seattle U on Sunday.
Brown's goal was her first since Oct. 21, 2021, when the Happy Valley, Ore., native, then a freshman, scored on the road at Utah. She finished Sunday's game with a season-high 37 minutes played off the bench.
OSU created two great chances early in the first 10 minutes of action. Paola Figueroa, back in the starting lineup, forced a save with a lobbed effort in the seventh minute before Megin Turi unleashed a rocked from a near identical spot as her goal on Thursday, but the shot forced a diving effort from the Redhawk goalkeeper that went out for an OSU corner.
The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute.
McKenna Martinez had a shot saved five minutes later and Katie Godden had an effort late in the half blocked as SU took that one goal lead into the break.
Godden (saved) and Martinez (blocked) both had early shot attempts in the second half but Seattle U doubled the lead in the 60th minute before adding goals in the 75th and 79th minutes.
Brown's goal came in the 86th as Seattle U took the 4-1 result.
OSU finished with 10 shots (five on goal) while committing just two fouls and taking three corner kicks. In net, Mya Sanchez made five saves as she and Claire Jones played the full 90 minutes.
Oregon State returns to action on Thursday, hosting Fresno State at Paul Lorenz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
