Beavers Off To Great Start At Leadership & Golf Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – All five Oregon State women's golfers shot even par or better during Monday's Leadership and Golf Invitational to put the team in great position with one round to play.
The Beavers, who are competing in their first tournament of the season, are in third place through 36 holes after posting an even-par 283-293—576 at the par-72, 6,022-yard Chambers Bay Golf Course.
USC leads the 16-team field with a 5-under 571 and Colorado is second with a 3-under 573.
The final round will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start and live scoring is available at this link.
Sophomore Kelly Hope and true freshman Clara Alevag led the charge in the morning round with each firing a 3-under 69. Raya Nakao added an even-par 72 and junior Kyra Ly carded a 1-over 73 for the Beavers' first 18-hole score of the season.
The 3-under 69 was a career best for Hope whose best score last season as a true freshman was a 5-over 77 in her nine rounds.
Ly posted a team-best 1-under 71 in the afternoon round, while sophomore Rebecca Kim carded her best score as a collegian with an even-par 72. Kim's best score as a true freshman last season was a 1-over 73 in her 30 rounds.
Hope and Ly are both tied for 14th place through the first two rounds with an even-par 144, as Hope finished with scores of 69-75 and Ly posted 73-71.
Nakao is tied for 27th with a 3-over 72-75—147, Alevag is tied for 53rd with an 8-over 69-83—152 and Kim is tied for 61st with a 9-over 81-72—153.
