
Dhesi, Engel Open Competition in Paris Olympics

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State will see two members of the wrestling program at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this week. Amar Dhesi, class of 2019, and associate head coach Nate Engel will partake in the competition.
Dhesi, who competed at OSU from 2013-14 to 2018-19, will represent his home country of Canada at the 125-kg class in freestyle competition. The Surrey, B.C. product was an All-American, a four-time participant at the NCAA Championships, two-time Pac-12 champion at heavyweight and a two-time Pac-12 Most Outstanding Wrestler. He is making his second consecutive appearance at the Olympics after he took 13th at 125 kg in the Tokyo Games three years ago.
Engel, the associate head coach of the Beavers, will be making his second consecutive trip to the Summer Games. He will serve as a personal coach for Dominique Parrish as a part of the USA Wrestling delegation in Paris. Parrish, a part of the Beaver Dam RTC (Regional Training Center), competes at 53 kg.
Competition for Engel opens Wednesday, August 7th while Dhesi's run starts Friday, August 9th.
All of the Olympic wrestling will take place in Paris' Champs-de-Mars Arena.
