Oregon State Student-Athletes Make Impact with Beavers Without Borders
July 17, 2024 | General
CORVALLIS – A group of Oregon State Athletics student athletes and staff members generously volunteered their time to take part in the 2024 Beavers Without Borders (BWOB) trip to San Pedro Macoris, Dominican Republic earlier this summer. A total of 11 dedicated student-athletes representing seven different teams and five athletics staff members contributed over 600 hours of building - working alongside community members to start and complete a significant project.
The Oregon State team built an additional floor to the Centro Desarrollo Interno para la Niñez Emmanuel, an orphanage that previously provided a home to over 30 children from the community. With this new addition, the orphanage will be able to house 30 additional children who need a loving and supportive home.

Following the trip, every student-athlete surveyed said they gained a better insight into themselves as a result of their travel to the Dominican Republic. Two of the athletes commented "It as the absolute best experience of my life" and "One of the best things I have ever done."
