Carey Competes in Day One of Xfinity U.S. Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oregon State gymnast Jade Carey continued her quest for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday, competing in day one of the Xfinity U.S. Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. The competition will resume on Sunday evening.
Starting the competition on the floor exercise, Carey posted a score of 13.600, placing her in fifth place. In the second rotation, Carey achieved the third-best vault result of the day with a 14.500. She followed up with a strong uneven bars routine, scoring 13.500, and finished day one with a solid beam routine, scoring 13.450.
Carey completed Friday's competition with an all-around score of 55.050, placing her eighth in the all-around.
Friday marked the first of two days of competition, as the gymnasts will return to action on Sunday evening. Each athlete's combined two-day score will determine the final rankings and crown the National Champions. In addition, this meet will determine the U.S. National Team members and the athletes who will be selected by invitation to attend the Olympic Trials, scheduled for June 27-30 in Minneapolis, Minn.
