March 25, 2024 | Women's Gymnastics
The 18th-ranked GymBeavs will compete in the Arkansas Regional, scheduled for April 3-6 in Fayetteville, Ark.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2024 National Collegiate women's gymnastics championships regional selections were announced by the NCAA on Monday, with Oregon State earning a spot in the Fayetteville, Ark., regional hosted by the Arkansas Razorbacks. By earning a spot in the regional, Oregon State extends its run of consecutive postseason appearances up to 49, a streak which dates back to the 1975 season.
There are eight teams in the Arkansas regional and that first day of competition will see OSU match up against four of them: No. 2 LSU, No. 15 Minnesota and the winner of a play-in between Boise State and BYU; this session is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. PST on April 4.
The other four teams include No. 7 Kentucky, No. 10 Arkansas, Arizona and Nebraska, and those schools will compete earlier in the day on April 4.
The top two teams from each group will advance and compete against each another on April 6 at 3 p.m. PST, with the top two teams from that final day of competition advancing to nationals, scheduled for April 18-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Oregon State enters the regional with momentum after making some noise in the Pac-12 Championships. Jade Carey posted a perfect 10 on her way to being named the Pac-12 Champion on floor while her 9.950 on bars earned co-champion honors; the Beavers also posted a season-best 49.550 on floor exercise.
OSU ranks top-25 in every single event, led by the Beaver bars lineup that sits at No. 7 after finishing with a 49.450 rotation score this past weekend. Carey, Sage Thompson and Jennifer McMillan have all posted 9.900 or higher bars scores in each of the last three meets while also sitting in the top-30 nationally; Carey is tied for fourth, Thompson tied for 22nd and McMillan is in a three-way tie for 28th with her 9.915 NQS.
The Beavers as a team have combined to win 37 event titles and eight Pac-12 weekly awards this season all while boasting a young roster that has just two seniors out of 18 total gymnasts.
