Kyra Ly Named Pac-12 Women’s Golfer Of The Week
March 12, 2024 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kyra Ly was named the Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Zoe Antoinette Campos of UCLA and Camille Boyd of Washington shared the prestigious honor with Ly for their outstanding performances last week.
Ly is just the second golfer in program history to receive in-season recognition from the Pac-12 Conference. Ellie Slama was named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month in October 2018 before it became a weekly honor.
A native of Portland, Ly won her first college tournament when she shared the individual title at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational. She fired a career-best 5-under 67 in the first round and equaled her previous best score in the second round with a 3-under 69 to finish with an 8-under 136.
She had 11 birdies in the tournament, the most among the 75 players in the field.
Ly's previous best finish was a tie for fourth place at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate this past fall. She has three Top 10 finishes this season after getting none as a true freshman last season. Ly has nine scores in red figures in 20 rounds this season after getting three in 29 rounds last season.
The Beavers will next compete at the PING/ASU Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., which is scheduled for Thursday, March 28 through Saturday, March 30.
