February 10, 2024 | Women's Track & Field
SEATTLE and ALBEQUERQUE, N.M.. – Oregon State earned five new all-time top 10 marks and saw growth from several young athletes at the Don Kirby Invitational and Husky Classic.
Â
"Our group had a great weekend," said head coach Louie Quintana. "We ran some amazing 3Ks and miles over the last couple days in Seattle and saw extremely encouraging results from our sprinters and jumpers in Albequerque. Our you pole vault group had some great attempts at 3.52m. The team is coming together."
The best single race of the weekend for OSU was the 3,000 meters in Seattle, where Kate Laurent obliterated her previous PR and raced to the no. 5 spot at Oregon State with a 9:23.77. Noemi Lundgren, a freshman, entered the top 10 with a 9:35.91.
Â
Sage Brooks and Kaylee Mitchell, while not posting new personal bests, also ran times that would comfortably be in the top 10 and placed highly in a large field of runners at UW. Erika Cunniam raced to a personal best in the event as well.
Â
Maya Baechler also scored a new top-10 mark in Seattle with a 2:11.20 in the 800 meters. The mark places her sixth all-time in one of the freshman's first collegiate races. Ava McKee just missed a top-10 mark with a PR of 2:16.96.
Â
In Albuquerque, sophomore Lizzie Hatton made a mark with the eighth-best long jump mark at OSU: Â 5.66m/18-7. Veterans Delaney Bahn and Anneke Moersdorf each easily cleared 19 feet in the event as both close in on personal records and the Oregon State school record.
Â

Â
The Beavs also got a trio of PRs in the pole vault with Lillia Montiel, Claire Lee and Mia Fowler all clearing 3.34m/10-10.75 to narrowly bypass their previous best of 3.25m/10-8.
