
Mitchell’s Record Highlights Weekend in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – Kaylee Mitchell secured yet another school record in the 5,000 meters to highlight Oregon State's weekend at the Ken Shannon Invite.
The effort highlighted a strong day for the distance squad, which also posted or improved three OSU Top 10 marks with Kate Laurent (9:23.68) improving the no. 5 mark all time while Erika Cunniam (9:26.89) entered the 10 best at no. 7 and Noemi Lundgren (9:30.68) moved up to no. 8.
The Beavs had one thrower at the meet – Jayla Hooper – who competed unattached. For the second straight meet, Hooper easily surpassed the current school record, this time with a 18.73m/61-5 toss that finished third. The senior is redshirting this season.
Grace Proudfoot highlighted the performance of the Beaver jumpers, entering the OSU Top 10 with a 1.71m/5-7.25 clearance to place third and earn the 10th spot all-time.
In the sprints, Oregon State got a super performance from its 60m crew with Jada Hurley just coming in behind her school record while Delaney Bahn moved up to no. 8 with a 7.90. Hurley also improved the no. 8 400m time in school history with a 56.93.
UP NEXT
Qualifying Beavs head to Boston for the NCAA Championships on March 9-10. The remainder of the team opens outdoor season at Willamette on March 2.
