CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State gymnastics is thrilled to announce the addition of three gymnasts, Paloma Spiridonova, Taylor McMahon and Kaylee Cheek, who have signed to join the Beavers for the 2025-26 season.
"We're excited to welcome Paloma, Taylor, and Kaylee to the Oregon State Gymnastics family," said Head Coach Tanya Chaplin. "Their skill, hard work, and dedication to a team-centered approach align perfectly with the values of our program. We look forward to seeing them inspire Beaver Nation and elevate our team."
Kaylee Cheek / Spanish Fork, Utah / Bold Gymnastics
Kaylee Cheek is an accomplished Level 10 gymnast from Utah who has consistently impressed at national competitions. She earned a first-place finish on beam and top-10 all-around placement at the USAG Level 10 Nationals and recently scored a 9.95 on the uneven bars, securing first at the 2024 USGA Region One Championship. Cheek has a background in the USGA Tops program and Elite gymnastics before shifting her focus to Level 10.
"I chose Oregon State because of the culture on campus, the amazing coaches and staff, and the team atmosphere in the gym," Cheek said.
Coach Chaplin highlighted Cheek's "beautiful, elegant execution on the uneven bars and her vibrant showmanship on beam and floor," which she believes will captivate Beaver fans.
Taylor McMahon / Flower Mound, Texas / Texas Dreams
Texas native Taylor McMahon brings elite-level experience to OSU, having competed at the 2024 American and US Classic on beam and bars. Previously, she exceled in Level 9 competitions, winning Level 9 Westerns and eventually transitioning to junior and senior elite levels.
"Gorgeous campus and amazing people," McMahon said when summarizing why she chose OSU.
Coach Chaplin praised McMahon as a "skilled gymnast who shines on the uneven bars and balance beam," adding that her "grace and finesse, along with her elite experience, will make her exciting to watch at the NCAA level."
Paloma Spiridonova / Plano, Texas / WOGA
Paloma Spiridonova, a standout international gymnast, has represented the Bulgarian national team in various prestigious competitions, including the European Championships and World Championships. She's earned medals on beam, floor, and bars and is known for her expressive and artistic performances.
Spiridonova was drawn to OSU because "it felt like home and the amount of support I get from the coaches, professors, and the team."
Coach Chaplin described Spiridonova as "a gymnast with expressive and graceful style, balancing artistry with technical precision who has many unique skills which set her routines apart from her competitors," also adding "Paloma will thrive at the collegiate level."
