Beavers Sixth After 18 Holes At The Williams Cup

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Stanley Lin shot a 1-under 71 to pace the Oregon State men's golf team in the first round of the Williams Cup hosted by North Carolina on Sunday. The Beavers, as a team, are sixth at 2-over.

Lin birdied three holes to pace the Beavers, who are all within the top 36 in a field that includes 75 golfers. Lin leads in a tie for ninth and is followed closely by Brandon Eyre, who finished at par and is tied for 13^th. Like Lin, he posted three birdies, all in the back nine.

Rylan Johnson picked up two birdies to tally a 1-over 73, and is tied for 18^th. Collin Hodgkinson is tied for 28^th after posting a 2-over 74, with a birdie on the par-4 16^th. Bradley Smolinski rounds out the Beavers' contingent with a 3-over 75 and enters round two in a tie for 36^th.

The Beavers shot 290 as a team and are one stroke behind No. 5 Notre Dame and two out of a tie for third shared by North Carolina State and Auburn. The Beavers ended Sunday with 11 birdies as a team.

Round two continues on Monday. OSU tees off at 6:05 a.m. PT.
