Scatena and Pradere Highlight Saturday at UW
January 27, 2024 | Women's Track & Field
SEATTLE – Oregon State's Adael Scatena and Abigail Pradere posted new Oregon State Top 10 marks in the Beavers' season re-opener on Saturday at the UW Invite.
Scatena is the only Beav currently in the top 10 in the 200, 400 and 800 meters after her 2:11.72 secured the no. 6 spot all-time.
Pradere moved up the OSU Top 10 in the mile with a personal best mark of 4:42.99. The grad transfer entered the top 10 in her true OSU debut at the Spokane Indoor but had not set a PB in orange and black before Saturday
"This was probably more of a true opener for us. It's been a tough last couple weeks navigating training through that ice storm, but we were competitive and poised," said head coach Louie Quintana
"Big hurdle days for Anneke and Adael. Adael doubled back and showed great fitness with the 2:11 800! That's going to be big for her long hurdle race outdoor. Great to have Lizzie back after a year off. She is going to be huge for us this year. Distance group was great. Massive performances all up and down the roster for this team. Big things to come from that young group," Quintana continued.
Oregon State also got encouraging performances from Jada Hurley, who finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a 7.66-second race, and Kaylee Mitchell, who posted a mile time of 4:39.56 in her first meet in nearly two months.
