Second Half Surge Fuels Impressive Victory

COSTA MASNAGA, Italy – Oregon State outpaced Basket Costa 53-25 in the second half to complete its foreign tour sweep with an 87-48 victory.

The hosts, who were in a better league than the Beavers' previous two opponents, hung with OSU for a half and went into the break down 34-23. The Beavs turned up the heat after the break and improved execution on offense led to a wide margin of victory.

Raegan Beers and Dominika Paurova scored 16 points each to lead the team with a combined 24 of their 32 points coming over the final 20 minutes. Timea Gardiner kept the Beavs in front during the slow start and owned the boards for the Beavers with 13 of them to go with 14 points for a double-double.
Sela Heide also contributed a big second-half effort to the victory. The 6-foot-7 junior scored 10 of her 12 points after the break, while also grabbing five rebounds.

Donovyn Hunter came on strong in the fourth quarter to put the home team away. The freshman had just two points through the game's first 30 minutes, but owned the final 10. She had eight points, two assists, three rebounds and while making 2-for-2 from three and 3-of-3 from the floor in the fourth.

As a team, OSU racked up 22 assists on 35 baskets with nine players recording at least one. Seven had multiple helpers.

Oregon State returns to the Beaver State on Wednesday. The Beavs won all three of their games in Italy by at least 30 points, getting contributions from every player on the roster.
