Ciao Beavs Day 2: Sun and Fun on the Amalfi Coast
August 20, 2023 | Women's Basketball
NAPLES, Italy – The second day of Oregon State women's basketball's Italian adventure saw the Beavers take in all the Amalfi Coast has to offer and learn why Italy's nickname is Bel Paese (Beautiful Country).
Â
The Beavs bussed around the Italian coast to Sorento to open the day, enjoying views of the Mediterranean Sea and its beautiful blue waters. Once in Sorrento, the travel party walked down to the coast and met its guide for the day before hopping on a taxi boat for an hour-long jaunt to Positano.
Â
Along the way, the guide educated the Beavs on the islands around the coastline, walking through their historical and current importance to Italy and the former nation-states that once made up the country.
Â
Oregon State then arrived in Positano. Once there, the team engaged in a short tour before spreading out over the island for shopping, walks and lunch. Kelsey Rees, Dominika Paurová and Raegan Beers underwent the 40-minute uphill hike to the top of one of the accompanying hills. The trio was handsomely rewarded with beautiful views of the coast and sea.
Â
Others opted to wander through the city and find its best local eats, digging into a lemon sorbet local to the Amalfi Coast. AJ Marotte, Donovyn Hunter, Kennedie Shuler and Timea Gardiner were among those tucking into the local eats, which also came with a small hike in a town known for its many staircases.
Â
After a few hours, the Beavs headed to the coast's namesake: Amalfi. A few ran into a wedding taking place in the town square while others opted to beat the heat by heading straight for the water. The Beavs closed the day with a few more views, enjoying a drive up the hill behind Amalfi before descending into Naples for dinner and time together.
Â
Tomorrow, the Beavers head to Rome. For the latest on the trip to Italy and all things Oregon State Women's Basketball, follow @BeaverWBB on Instagram, Twitter, Threads and Facebook. Â
