
OSU Signee Cooper Humphreys Wins 121st BC Amateur

PARKSVILLE, B.C. – Oregon State men's golf's signee Cooper Humphreys has won the B.C. Amateur Championship Friday afternoon at Morningstar Golf Club.
Humphreys won the four-round event by shooting a 14-under 274, which included three rounds under par. He won the 121st version of the event by six strokes at the par-72 course.
Humphreys, who hails from Vernon, B.C., opened the event with a 1-over 73 but then charged ahead in the second and third rounds. He shot a 5-under 67 in the second round, then a 6-under 66 in the third to move into a three-shot cushion heading into Friday's action.
He rolled to the tournament championship by shooting a 4-under 68 in the fourth and final round. His 66 in the third tied for the best single-round finish by any golfer in the event.
Humphreys is the third future Beaver to ever win the event, following Mitch Gillis, who claimed the title in 2007, also at Morningstar, and Nolan Thoroughgood, who claimed the championship in 2016. Thoroughgood recently completed his Oregon State career.
