Kelly Hope Joins Oregon State Women’s Golf Program
May 03, 2023 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golf head coach Dawn Shockley announced Wednesday the addition of Kelly Hope who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Beaver women's golf program beginning with the 2023-24 season.
"We are very excited about the quick improvement from Kelly in a short period of time," Shockley said. "She picked up golf during COVID and has become one of the top South African amateur golfers. She is a driven, goal-oriented individual who puts in the work to achieve her goals and doesn't let setbacks get in her way.
"Her determination and work ethic, as well as her willingness to learn, will make her an exceptional addition to our team. I can't wait to see all that she accomplishes in the next four years."
Hope, a native of Pretoria, South Africa, attends Curro Hazeldean High School and has won several provincial tournaments, including claiming medalist honors at a national tournament. She also represented her province in tennis and hockey.
She chose Oregon State because "OSU has a highly-rated business faculty, which was perfect for me wanting to follow a path in accountancy. Most importantly, OSU has an incredible golf program, which I believe will be able to provide me with a platform to take my golf to the next level."
Hope carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA at Curro Hazeldean High School and was second in her grade academically while earning several academic honors. She plans to major in accounting at Oregon State.
