Beavers Off to Sacramento for NCAA West Prelims

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – Building off a stellar showing at the Pac-12 Championships, Oregon State is looking to use that momentum heading into regionals on Thursday and Saturday at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.

The Beavers are ready to continue to show they are a program on the rise, kicking off the first day with the hammer at 10 a.m. The NCAA Outdoor West First Round will be streaming on ESPN+ here. Live results will also be available here.Â

Oregon State qualified ten competitors across eight events for the regional. The top 12 finishers in each final will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.

LAST TIME OUT
Oregon State finished a program best of 8th with another program record of 55 points at the Pac-12 Championships. Strong performances included the 5,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase titles, showing immense growth across the program.

After winning Oregon State's first two Pac-12 event titles, Grace Fetherstonhaugh also became the Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Year, making her the first Beaver to earn an end-of-season major award.  Â

In addition, Jade Whitfield finished second in the discus with a 57.74m/189-5 toss, the best performance by a thrower in Beaver history at the conference championships. Kaylee Mitchell also ran three gritty races in three days at the championships. After earning ten points for the Beavs at Pac-12s and finishing seconds behind Fetherstonhaugh in the 3000-meter steeplechase despite having run the day before, Mitchell will be a top contender in this year's outdoor west regionals as well.
