Bazzana, Ferrer Named Academic All-District
May 16, 2023 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State infielder Travis Bazzana and right-handed pitcher Ben Ferrer have been named Academic All-District selections, as announced by College Sports Communications (formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or significant reserve, play in at least 50 percent of their team's games and not be in their first year at their respective institution.
Both Bazzana and Ferrer were at OSU for their first seasons in 2022, making this year's honor the first of their careers.
Bazzana, a psychology major, is batting a team-best .381 with 17 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 47 runs batted in with an Oregon State single-season record 33 stolen bases.
Ferrer is graduate student at Oregon State after receiving his undergraduate degree in economics/finance from USC Upstate. At OSU, he is studying corporate finance and business analytics. On the field, he is 1-1 with a 3.06 earned run average in 17 appearances this season. He has struck out 37 batters in 32 1/3 innings.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 7.
